We Believe in the Simplicity of the Word of God
Through the
Simplicity of the Gospel, the Word becomes alive and part of us and our day to
day life with Christ in us.
We believe through the 2 Great commandments
in Luke 10:27-28 and Matt 22:37-40 it tells us that if we do this we have
fulfilled all the commandments of the Old and New Testaments.
Luke
10:27-28 (Message) 27 He said, "That you love the Lord your God with all
your passion and prayer and muscle and intelligence - and that you love your
neighbor as well as you do yourself." 28 "Good answer!" said Jesus. "Do it and
you'll live."
Luke 10:27-28 (NKJV) 27 So he answered and said,
"'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with
all your strength, and with all your mind,' F80 and 'your neighbor as yourself.'
" F81 28 And He said to him, "You have answered rightly; do this and you will
live."
Matt:22:37-40 (Message) 37 Jesus said, "'Love the Lord
your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.' 38 This is the most
important, the first on any list. 39 But there is a second to set alongside it:
'Love others as well as you love yourself.' 40 These two commands are pegs;
everything in God's Law and the Prophets hangs from
them."
Matt:22:37-40 (NKJV) 37 Jesus said to him, "'You shall
love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all
your mind.' F121 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second
is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' F122 40 On these two
commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
Through our love
relationship with God and others we hold these basic teachings as
true:
THE BIBLE 2 Tim. 3:15-16
(Message) ….There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the
way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 Every part of Scripture is
God-breathed and useful one way or another - showing us truth, exposing our
rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. 17 Through
the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for
us.
THE GOD HEAD Deut. 6:4 (Message) 4 Attention,
Israel! God, our God! God the one and only! Matt. 28:19
(Message) 19Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of
life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. Mark 12:29 (Message) 29 Jesus said, "The first in
importance is, 'Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one;
VIRGIN
BIRTH, DEATH, RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION Isa. 7:14 (Message) 14
So the Master is going to give you a sign anyway. Watch for this: A girl who is
presently a virgin will get pregnant. She'll bear a son and name him Immanuel
(God-With-Us). Rom. 8:34 (Message) 34 Who would dare even to point
a finger? The One who died for us - who was raised to life for us! - is in the
presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Acts 1:10
(Message) 10 They stood there, staring into the empty sky. Suddenly two men
appeared - in white robes!
SALVATION THROUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS
CHRIST 1 John 5:10 - 12 (Message) 10 Whoever believes in the
Son of God inwardly confirms God's testimony. Whoever refuses to believe in
effect calls God a liar, refusing to believe God's own testimony regarding his
Son. 11 This is the testimony in essence: God gave us eternal life; the life is
in his Son. 12 So, whoever has the Son, has life; whoever rejects the Son,
rejects life. Rom. 10:4-15 (Message) 4 The earlier revelation was
intended simply to get us ready for the Messiah, who then puts everything right
for those who trust him to do it. 5 Moses wrote that anyone who insists on using
the law code to live right before God soon discovers it's not so easy - every
detail of life regulated by fine print! 6 But trusting God to shape the right
living in us is a different story - no precarious climb up to heaven to recruit
the Messiah, 7 no dangerous descent into hell to rescue the Messiah. 8 So what
exactly was Moses saying? The word that saves is right here, as near as the
tongue in your mouth, as close as the heart in your chest. 9 Say the welcoming
word to God - "Jesus is my Master" - embracing, body and soul, God's work of
doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That's it. You're not
"doing" anything; you're simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for
you. That's salvation. 10 With your whole being you embrace God setting things
right, and then you say it, right out loud: "God has set everything right
between him and me!" 11 Scripture reassures us, "No one who trusts God like this
- heart and soul - will ever regret it." 12 It's exactly the same no matter what
a person's religious background may be: the same God for all of us, acting the
same incredibly generous way to everyone who calls out for help. 13 "Everyone
who calls, 'Help, God!' gets help." 14 But how can people call for help if they
don't know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven't
heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them?
15 And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it? That's
why Scripture exclaims, A sight to take your breath away! Grand processions of
people telling all the good things of God!
WATER
BAPTISM Matt. 28:19 (Message) Go out and train everyone you
meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the
threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
REDEEMING WORK ON THE
CROSS Isa. 53:1 - 6 (Message) 1 Who believes what we've heard
and seen? Who would have thought God's saving power would look like this? 2 The
servant grew up before God - a scrawny seedling, a scrubby plant in a parched
field. There was nothing attractive about him, nothing to cause us to take a
second look. 3 He was looked down on and passed over, a man who suffered, who
knew pain firsthand. One look at him and people turned away. We looked down on
him, thought he was scum. 4 But the fact is, it was our pains he carried - our
disfigurements, all the things wrong with us. We thought he brought it on
himself, that God was punishing him for his own failures. 5 But it was our sins
that did that to him, that ripped and tore and crushed him - our sins! He took
the punishment, and that made us whole. Through his bruises we get healed. 6
We're all like sheep who've wandered off and gotten lost. We've all done our own
thing, gone our own way. And God has piled all our sins, everything we've done
wrong, on him, on him.
HEALING Jam 5:13-14
(Message) 13 Are you hurting? Pray. Do you feel great? Sing. 14 Are you sick?
Call the church leaders together to pray and anoint you with oil in the name of
the Master. 15 Believing-prayer will heal you, and Jesus will put you on your
feet. And if you've sinned, you'll be forgiven - healed inside and
out.
LIVING A HOLY LIFE 1 Pet. 1:15-16 (Message) 13
So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the
gift that's coming when Jesus arrives. 14 Don't lazily slip back into those old
grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn't know any better
then; you do now. 15 As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way
of life shaped by God's life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. 16 God
said, "I am holy; you be holy." 17 You call out to God for help and he helps -
he's a good Father that way. But don't forget, he's also a responsible Father,
and won't let you get by with sloppy living.
SECOND COMING OF JESUS
CHRIST 1 Thess. 4:15 -18 (Message) 15 And then this: We can
tell you with complete confidence - we have the Master's word on it - that when
the Master comes again to get us, those of us who are still alive will not get a
jump on the dead and leave them behind. In actual fact, they'll be ahead of us.
16 The Master himself will give the command. Archangel thunder! God's trumpet
blast! He'll come down from heaven and the dead in Christ will rise - they'll go
first. 17 Then the rest of us who are still alive at the time will be caught up
with them into the clouds to meet the Master. 18 Oh, we'll be walking on air!
And then there will be one huge family reunion with the Master. So reassure one
another with these words.
Anything beyond the basic simplicity of the
gospel we consider as fringe benefits for the scriptures tell us that all things
will pass away except LOVE and GOD IS LOVE. 1 Cor. 13
